Why do I find myself so distracted?

Watching the Winter Olympics from the comfort of my living room has taken a sharp turn.

I am stewing in annoyance.

The difference in viewing the men’s skating programs vs seeing the women’s figure skating rounds is a glaringly obvious discrepancy.

Let us see

Not even an ice-cold winter backdrop behind the world’s most respected platform can stop the powers of generational sexism. Reminiscent of last summer’s games with the women’s volleyball team uniforms, I can’t help but focus on what is unapologetically presented as acceptable norms.

I’ve heard excuses and arguments for the forced sexualization of female athletes. I don’t buy any of them. I don’t buy them because I don’t equate the value of any girl or woman to be proportionate to the parts of her body.

I don’t typically look directly in between the thighs of women I see in real life. I’m not concerned with what is between anyone’s legs really, but if I wanted to look, I probably wouldn’t want my grandmother sitting beside me when I did!

How free is anyone to disagree with dress codes applied to perceived gender roles? What weird societal conglomeration deemed…
